Who Needs An Agent?
According to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), 85 percent of homeowners are assisted by a real estate agent when selling their home, while 79 percent of buyers purchase their home through a real estate agent or broker. Most buyers and sellers know they need help with their real estate transactions, and here's why:
People are still buying and selling, but today's market conditions are adding factors that may not have been a consideration when those same homeowners bought and sold previously.
On one hand, NAR President Ron Phipps said the market is remarkably affordable for people with secure jobs, good credit and long-term plans. Phipps noted, "All year, the relationship between home prices, mortgage interest rates and family income has been hovering at historic highs, meaning the best housing affordability conditions in a generation."
However, Phipps continued, "The biggest factors keeping home sales from a healthy recovery are mortgages being denied to creditworthy buyers, and appraised valuations below the negotiated price. Buyers may be able to find more favorable credit terms with community and small regional banks, and Realtors® can often give buyers advice to help them overcome some of the financing obstacles."
In addition to the financial direction available through your real estate sales representative, we may even be able to produce the perfect buyer. NAR studies show that 82 percent of real estate sales are the result of agent relationships through previous clients, referrals, friends, family and personal contacts!
